Daily story, June 24, 2025

Shame crept in with the sunlight, coming through the curtains however tight I closed them, dragging me from sleep, piercing through the eye socket. I pulled stale covers over my face but that only left me stewing in it. So I hauled the curtains open and sat in the dazzle until it passed, and I was awake.
