Daily story, April 7, 2025

He had heard about the grains of rice on the chessboard, but he didn’t believe it. He read the numbers over twice, four times, eight times, but he didn’t trust them. Numbers lied all the time. So he got down the old chessboard, and went to the shop for a bag of rice (a big bag—no, two big bags, he wasn’t stupid). He started in the corner, one two four eight. By the time he reached the last square, he was feeling pretty pleased with himself.
